Success is not the only thing

Wealth is good. But is there something even better than wealth, and if there is, why is no one going after it?

Many say:

“Yes but look at how the world has improved. True, there are still a lot of poor people. But things have still improved significantly.”

So what exactly has improved I ask:

“Earnings, transport, hospitals, education, healthcare, welfare, etc?”

In other words, ‘What have the Romans done for us?’...

Create wealth, is what!

So the things that have improved are all wealth factors. We have more wealth. A bigger common stock of wealth. Things that are made by doing work.

Regardless of who owns it, there is more wealth in the world today, this is indisputable. But my question is:

“Is there something even better than wealth, and if there is, why is no one going after it?”

And more to the point, if these things do exist, have they improved or not?

The social reformers, the religious, the charities, the planet savers, talk big about these things. But do very little walking. Their actions are geared in the biggest proportion to helping people get wealth.

Very little is done by them to improve the things we want more of, that are NOT wealth.

Charity and religion 'feeds' poverty with wealth. But who will help the 'poor' in these things better than wealth?

Ask any of them about it and they will try to have you crucified. The ‘scribes and the pharisees’. Rich in wealth. Poor in things better than wealth. We can 'see' them and they are furious about that.

Some will then set up a wonderful straw man to shoot down:

"You fool, with no wealth we would definitely die of starvation. Wealth is primary, so anything else must be superficial, a luxury."

I say to them - show me an example, in general, in any time or place, where there has not been abundant wealth to support every child born with the greatest of ease, when these things better than wealth have underpinned that society?

Then, given the choice, the remaining 'poor', what do you think they would prefer - charity or justice? A deadly serious question fiercely avoided by the religious, the charities, the helpers, the planet savers.

An experiment for you today:

Find a quiet moment... and without worrying about others... look deep inside yourself and ask: Is there anything more important TO YOU than wealth. Anything. And then if there is, ask even harder, how much you go after it compared to wealth.

Wealth is good, it is true, very good. But there is something even better. Can you see it. And do you really want it?
